Care Sticker Size Guide: Fit Symbols, Fiber Content & Wording

Two rectangular care-information stickers, with one corner lifted to show the release backing.
Quick Answer

Compare a 40 × 25 mm sticker for a short information block, 50 × 35 mm for several details, or 60 × 40 mm for a longer layout. These are planning examples. Size the sticker from the complete wording and symbols, and keep it separate from permanent garment labeling requirements.

What Size Care Sticker Do You Need?

Start with the information you need to show. A short fiber-content statement may fit a compact rectangle, while care symbols plus several lines of wording need more space. Compare a 40 × 25 mm, 50 × 35 mm and 60 × 40 mm outline using the actual content.

This guide covers packaging and temporary information stickers. It does not treat a sticker as a universal replacement for a permanent garment care label. We can help with both care stickers and sewn care labels, according to the job each one needs to do.

Care Sticker Size Examples

The table describes finished cut width × height, with the text upright. It excludes the release backing and artwork bleed. These are original layout examples, not required sizes or guaranteed capacities for a particular amount of text.

Information layoutExample sizeApprox. inchesReason to compare it
One short statement40 × 20 mm1.57 × 0.79 inA wide face for a concise line or two
Compact information block40 × 25 mm1.57 × 0.98 inShort wording on a small package
Symbols and supporting text50 × 35 mm1.97 × 1.38 inSeparate rows for different details
Longer combined information60 × 40 mm2.36 × 1.57 inMore room for wording and spacing
A narrow vertical layout35 × 60 mm1.38 × 2.36 inA tall space on a bag or package

A translation or an extra fiber line can change the layout more than a larger logo. Work from the final information instead of estimating from the number of words alone.

Separate Care, Composition and Origin

Care instructions describe how the item should be treated. Fiber composition describes its material, while origin is another piece of product information. Keeping these groups distinct makes a combined sticker easier to read.

We print the wording and symbols you provide. Do not remove a meaningful bar, dot or crossed-out mark just to fit a smaller space. GINETEX’s symbol guide explains how such details change care meanings. Use your approved symbol artwork and give it enough room.

Long instructions need more layout space than a short information line.

Example: A Symbol Row Above Three Text Lines

Imagine the approved symbol row occupies 34 × 6 mm and the complete text block occupies 38 × 12 mm at the intended print size. These measurements include all the visible parts of the artwork.

With a 3 mm gap between the two blocks and an illustrative 3 mm margin on every outside edge, the required area is (38 + 3 + 3) × (6 + 3 + 12 + 3 + 3) = 44 × 27 mm. A 50 × 30 mm finished sticker gives this particular layout extra space.

The example is a way to add measured blocks, not a recommended symbol height or text minimum. If another language increases the text block to 18 mm high, the same arrangement needs 33 mm overall height. A 30 mm-high sticker would no longer fit it without changing the layout.

Make the Information Visible on a Filled Bag

For a garment bag, choose a flat area that remains visible after the clothing is packed. A tall sticker can fit beside a printed logo, while a wider one may work below it. Keep the care information clear of the opening and any place that regularly folds over.

Use a paper outline to compare the candidate sizes on the filled package. A screen preview can make fine print appear more comfortable than it will at actual size. If the information looks crowded, a larger face or a different arrangement is usually the more useful starting point.

Choose the Surface and Adhesive Together

Our care-sticker options include synthetic paper and PET. We help choose the adhesive for fabric or packaging, including removable options where the information needs to peel away.

A moisture-resistant face material does not establish how the complete sticker will behave on every fabric or through washing. Direct-to-garment use needs a sample on the actual fabric and an agreed purpose. Tell us whether the sticker is temporary or intended to remain; we can help choose an appropriate construction without assuming every care sticker performs the same way.

Keep Different Garment Versions Clear

If a collection contains different fiber blends or care instructions, give each version its own approved wording. A shared outer sticker size can make packing easier, provided the longest version still reads clearly. There is no need to enlarge a brief version simply to fill the available face.

We supply rolls or sheets, with custom sizes and printing. Send the information for each version, quantities and a garment or bag photo. We can help arrange the layout and quote the material and supply format together.

Frequently Asked Questions

No. This guide is for packaging and temporary information stickers. Permanent garment labeling is a separate consideration; a sticker should not be assumed to replace it in every market or use.

Not one size that suits every layout. Use the complete approved artwork, including small bars and dots, and allow room for any supporting wording. The table gives planning examples only.

You can suggest a size, but the final wording helps determine whether it works. Longer fiber details, multiple languages and extra instructions may need more space.

Yes. We help choose removable adhesive for the intended fabric or package. A sample on that surface helps assess the hold and removal; it is not a universal performance promise.

Yes. There is no fixed minimum quantity. Custom samples cost US$10 and take 3–5 calendar days after payment. Existing similar samples are free, with their courier cost paid by you.
